BOISE, IDAHO
Boise is a delightful city surrounded by picturesque foothills, with a pristine river flowing through her core. Boiseans feel rich pride in the impressive quality of life found in a city on the cutting edge of business, the arts, sports and recreation, and an enhanced lifestyle.
Boise, the capital of Idaho, has grown from a small town of 35,000 in 1960 into a metropolitan center of well over 200,000 residents today, with a surrounding metro area topping 800,000. Her personality and style have endeared her to residents and visitors who enjoy a rich way of life with amenities including:
DINING
From fine dining and epicurean cuisine to food trucks and diverse ethnic choices at a charming sidewalk café on a mellow spring afternoon, Boise residents enjoy hundreds of dining experiences.
ACTIVITIES
The crown jewels of Boise are her many parks, several of which sit right along the Boise River, providing activity and entertainment. One of Boise's premier parks is Julia Davis Park, home of the Rose Garden, Boise Art Museum, Idaho State Historical Museum, the Idaho Black History Museum, the Discovery Center of Idaho, and Zoo Boise. Close by are the Boise Public Library, the Log Cabin Literacy Center, and the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, home of the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial.
Boise is culturally rich. She is home to the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center, and the World Center for Birds of Prey, each of which showcases her pride in history and the environment. Shakespeare, other live theaters, opera, a philharmonic orchestra, and ballet are all professionally performed here.
Summer would not be complete without tubing or rafting down “The Boise.” Catch a fish in unspoiled waters. Run, walk, or bike the Boise River Greenbelt, which stretches roughly 25 miles from Lucky Peak Dam in the east to Eagle Island State Park in the west. In the northern foothills, Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area continues to provide thousands of acres for snow lovers with snowboarding, downhill, and cross-country skiing.
SPORTS
“GO, BRONCOS!” The rally cry first took the nation by storm during the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, when Boise State University's football team became the ‘Cinderella’ story that captured America's heart, and the Broncos have remained a perennial national contender ever since. Boise is also home to the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL hockey, an affiliate of the Dallas Stars) and the Boise Hawks (an independent professional baseball team in the Pioneer League), both of which provide exciting sports entertainment for local fans. The newest addition to Boise's sports scene is Athletic Club Boise (AC Boise), a professional soccer club that debuted in USL League One in 2026 and immediately broke league attendance records, selling out every home match at its new stadium at Expo Idaho in neighboring Garden City. Thanks to that early success, AC Boise is moving up to the USL Championship, the second tier of American men's soccer, starting in 2027, and the club plans to add a women's team in the USL Super League as well.
THE FOOTHILLS
Hugging the northern border of the city are the treasured foothills. The City of Boise's open space program continues to preserve numerous hiking trails and nature paths to explore and trek.

Boise has a strong and growing educational system. Boise State University has grown from a junior college into a major university with a record enrollment of more than 28,000 students, and it remains the largest institution of higher education in Idaho.
