MERIDIAN, IDAHO
Sometimes the best things in life start out humbly. Meridian, bordering Boise to the west, began as a dairy town in the agriculturally rich Treasure Valley. Today, decades of ambitious growth have turned that small town into Idaho's second-largest city, home to well over 130,000 residents and still counted among the fastest-growing cities in the nation. Many of Meridian's residents enjoy the appeal of a bedroom community with a manageable commute into Boise and the rest of the Treasure Valley. In this way, the pristine atmosphere of the close-knit community is preserved even as the city grows. Along with the idyllic setting of a caring and vibrant community, Meridian also displays a business-friendly attitude toward developing industry and commerce. Meridian offers small-town lodging, dining, shopping, and recreational opportunities that make Treasure Valley life memorable.
EVENTS
“Gentlemen, start your engines!” Meridian Speedway still draws stock car racing fans from all over the valley from spring through fall. The first track was simply an empty pasture near the Meridian Dairy Barns, where spectators once watched from hay bales placed around the track. In 1951, a group of young men donned their old coveralls and worn-out tennis shoes, jumped in their jalopies, and “went racin’.”
Calling upon her original dairy roots, Meridian still celebrates ‘Dairy Days’ each June and the ‘Scarecrow and Harvest Festival’ each October, traditional ways to commemorate the season and bring fun and excitement to the ‘Old Town’ area.
RECREATION
Meridian offers fun times at Roaring Springs Water Park, a long-standing favorite for beating the hot Idaho summer with a wave pool, racing waterslides, waterfalls, kiddie pools, and thrilling flumes.
Boondocks Fun Center offers acres of fun for everyone with miniature golf, go-carts, arcade games, bumper cars, laughter, and more. Located right off Interstate 84, Boondocks Fun Center continues to provide wholesome family entertainment.
EDUCATION
Meridian is served primarily by the West Ada School District (formerly Meridian School District), the largest school district in Idaho, along with a growing number of public charter schools serving the city's expanding population.
DINING
The dining scene in Meridian continues to evolve right along with the city itself. A steady wave of new restaurants, breweries, and local eateries keeps raising the bar for a discriminating clientele.
HOUSING
Meridian real estate remains a fast-moving business. With the enhanced lifestyle of small-town Idaho living, a wide range of housing options, and continued growth, homes in Meridian remain one of the most desirable and competitive segments of the Treasure Valley market.
